Make Kid Friendly Meals Mom Friendly
Don’t miss out on eating with your kids because you just don’t like or want to eat what they eat. Ideally, the family should be eating the same meal, but how can you preserve the idea of family dinner without compromising what you like to eat for health or pleasure?
Eating the same foods as your children at dinner time is one of the best ways to combat picky eating. The repeated practice of serving one meal for dinner and avoiding the dreaded short order cooking will help your child become a capable eater, and teach them to like a variety of foods.
Problems can arise when a parent is trying to watch what they eat for personal/ health reasons. Ultimately, the goal is to make the same healthful food for EVERYONE at the table, while keeping in mind the different nutrient and calorie needs of adults and growing kids.
For example, we all know by now that when you are trying to lose weight, avoiding starchy carbohydrates at dinner can be helpful; also, too much added fat won’t help either; however, those 2 macronutrients are essential for growing children – especially young toddlers.
